| KBS Global wrote: | Seven to Hold Hollywood Preview Party Before U.S. Debut [4-24-2008]
Singer Seven will perform in front of a live audience prior to his official debut in the U.S.
Seven will sing three songs, which are included in his U.S. debut album, at the preview party to be held at Highlands, a famous nightclub in Hollywood, Los Angeles on May 2.
"Darkchild" Rodney Jerkins, a renowned American music producer will personally introduce Seven on stage. Jerkins has produced one of the songs in Seven's album entitled "Girls."
In March, Seven held a preview party in the iro Ballroom of the Maritime Hotel in New York. At the time, a DJ played the three songs but at the upcoming L.A preview party, Seven will perform the songs live on stage with his backup dancers. Reports say a number of famous musicians from the U.S. pop music industry have been invited to the event.
U.S. mobile communications company Verizon will also take part in the party as Seven's official sponsor. According to the singer's management agency YG Entertainment, Verizon has highly rated Seven's potential to succeed in the U.S. market.
President of YG Entertainment Yang Hyun-suk as well as the YG staff will leave for Los Angeles on May 1 to attend the event. |

When is SE7EN scheduled to debut in the US anyway? I must admit that he's US debut is looking promising right now with people like Rodney Jerkins supporting him. Even though I'm not a huge fan of him, I'd like to see SE7EN do well but he'll probably be labelled as the "Korean JT".
Anyway, I'm a bit surprised that we don't have more fans of SE7EN here. You (Klonoa) made this topic almost 6 months ago and the only reply that was made was made by you. Still, hopefully this bit of news will help this topic bloom a bit.

I'm a huge fan, but when you don't release anything I tend to lose interest.

You know, SE7EN either needs to debut in the States NOW or go back to Korea and make another album. This guy's as bad as Rain and I'm getting a little tired of waiting.
EDIT
SE7EN now has a MySpace page. Here's the link: http://www.myspace.com/officialse7en. It has a preview of Girls, which I think maybe his first single in the States. It sounds pretty good but with Dark Child as the producer, there really isn't much of a chance that it would've turned out to be bad. There's also a video of him saying to keep an eye out for his album and stuff.
Anyway, onto something a bit different. Is it me or has SE7EN been hitting the sunbeds a bit hard while working on this album of his? If I didn't know that was SE7EN, I probably would've thought it was another African-American singer. The boy's definitely sporting some darker skin.
EDIT II
The full version of Girls has leaked! You can listen to it HERE. At the moment, I quite like it.

I think this has a better chance at making it than BoA's debut does. This is very hip-hop-ish and that's all I ever hear on the radio.

We need more SE7EN fans!
Anyway, SE7EN's official US website is up and running. It's pretty slick looking. There's a video there, which features SE7EN talking about his first single, Girls. His English sounds like it still needs a bit of work. Still, what's important is the music and it's sounding pretty good so far. Girls is a great song!

Se7en is featured on Myspace's home page. How awesome. That will get him noticed.
Song rocks.

Well, I actually bought Girls on iTunes yesterday. Hopefully some other Kiwis bought it too as I'd like to see his album (along with BoA's) on music shelves here, even though it's highly unlikely that will every happen.

So yeah...about that U.S. thing...
"Things were looking great for Se7en. Johnny Wright was going to co-manage his career, we setup deals for Se7en to record a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. We even had Se7en scheduled to sing the national anthem live at an upcoming Dodgers game, as well as present an award at the BET Awards show."
"It's really disheartening, we really felt Se7en was the best candidate to represent Asians in the US. We truly believed he would've been the first to break through the US market, especially with all of the collaborations and events we had lined up. It's unfortunate that YG Entertainment turned down all of these opportunities, but we are still hoping for the best and that they come to the realization of how important this is for Se7en's career."-allkpop

Maybe YG got discouraged because most Asian artists are sucking here.
All those opportunities would have really helped.
I guess Korea's only hope is the Wonder Girls. They were smart to go on tour with the Jonas Brothers.
But since they already suck, maybe that won't happen either.
